The study underscores the significance of psychosocial elements in the acquisition of
English as a second language. The data was gathered from 298 children from the
middle wing of Government schools in New Delhi using Stratified Random Sampling.
Data was interpreted based on three constructs: Motivation, Attitude and Anxiety. The
reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach Alpha. Descriptive statistics,
Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analyses were conducted to examine
relationships among the psychosocial variables and English language learning. The
findings emphasize on the importance of addressing the psycho-social barriers in learning
English as second language in government schools to enhance language acquisition
and students’ development
