The current research aimed to explore the relationship of Adverse childhood experiences
(ACEs) on Professional quality of life (ProQOL), mediated by Mattering and Loneliness,
among healthcare professionals. The research included a large sample of diverse
healthcare professionals (HCPs) including nurses, psychologists, counsellors, social
workers, and other allied mental health HCPs (N=1253). The study used Structural
Equation Modeling (SEM) in two stages: examined causal effect hypotheses, and
explored mediation effect hypotheses. The research found that there is an indirect
relationship between the levels of ACEs and ProQOL, such as that mattering mediates
the negative relationship between Adverse Childhood Experience and ProQOL The
study identified ACEs as a risk factor for mental health issues in HCPs, emphasizing
the need for screening and support. It highlighted loneliness and mattering as mediators
between ACEs and ProQOL
