The purpose of this study was to investigate the feeling of alienation in students with
visual impairment studying in inclusive and special schools. The sample comprised of
two hundred visually impaired students in the age group of ten to twenty five years. The
results indicated that the visually impaired students studying in inclusive schools were
less alienated than those in special schools. The findings of the study were in consonance
with the underlying principles of inclusion and the role of inclusive education in reducing
alienation was highlighted. Remedial measures for special schools are recommended
to minimize the feeling of isolation and rejection among students with visual impairment.
