Creative thinking is a crucial life skill, which helps in all areas of one’s life – personal,
familial, career, societal and cultural dimensions. The present study attempts to
investigate the impact of brainstorming as an intervention on enhancing creativity
levels among middle-school children. It also attempted to investigate whether gender
differences exists with regard to the impact of brainstorming on verbal and nonverbal
creativity as well as among the components of creativity. Using convenience sampling,
76 students from a single government aided school consisting of 42 boys and 34 girls
were selected and evaluated using the creativity assessment test. This study followed
a pre-posttest experimental design with a control group. The results reveal that there
is a significant difference between the experimental and control group with regard to
total creativity scores, verbal creativity, verbal elaboration and verbal originality scores.
Results also indicate that brainstorming enhances creativity equally among boys and
girls
