The present study attempts to present insights on the relationship between career
calling, life orientation and organizational commitment among military officers. Data
from 40 military concerns were collected. It was found that organizational commitment
and life orientation are significantly and positively correlated with various domains of
career calling and with each other. Life orientation and prosocial orientation presencea
dimension of career calling have emerged as the best predictors of organizational
commitment. Furthermore, life orientation partially mediates the relationship between
prosocial orientation presence and organizational commitment. The significant
association among three variables provides important insight at every stage for a military
officer. Development of a sense of calling and engaging in work that aligns with this
calling may be an important route to enhance organizational commitment among military
officers. Furthermore, army personnel can be given counseling or psychosocial
interventions to increase their optimism which will positively impact organizational
commitment.
