The phenomena of biological motherhood are considered to be one of the significant
events in a woman’s life. Childbirth and post childbirth phases are characterised of gamut
of emotions, whose one of the clinical manifestations is Postpartum depression. There
is a dearth of qualitative studies on Postpartum depression in Indian context. This study
aims to de - construct postpartum depression in and around the mothering realities of
mothers. Purposive sampling method was used for the study. Thematic analysis was
used to analyse data of a sample of nine women. The themes of the study have been
elaborately discussed in the paper
