The influence of media, particularly social media, on young female adults’ mental health
and self-perception has been a growing concern. This research examines the correlation
between media usage, self-esteem, and body image concerns among young women
aged 18-26 in India. Using validated tools like the Social Networking Usage Questionnaire
, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale , and the Body Image Satisfaction Rating Scale,
data were collected from 50 participants across educational institutions. The results
revealed significant negative correlations between media usage and self-esteem and
positive correlations between media exposure and body image dissatisfaction. This
study underscores the urgent need for media literacy and interventions to promote
healthier self-perceptions among young women
